The Official Journal - now no longer 'the Kingdom', but 'the Kingdom of Italy "- announced that it has promulgated the law passed by the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. Here is the text:
"Vittorio Emanuele II, King of Sardinia, Cyprus and Jerusalem and so on. etc.. etc..
The Senate and the Chamber of Deputies have approved; We have sanctioned and promulgate the following:
Sole article.
King Vittorio Emanuele II assumes for himself and his successors the title of King of Italy. We order that the present, bearing the seal of the State, to be included in the collection of the Acts of the Government, sent to all to observe and enforce it as law of the State.
Dat. in Turin, this day of 17 March 1861.
